Egyptian ambassador to Lebanon Yasser Elwy (L) met with Lebanese army chief General Joseph Aoun (R) on Monday 21 June 2021
In a meeting on Monday, the Egyptian ambassador to Lebanon Yasser Elwy stressed to Lebanese army chief General Joseph Aoun Egypt's support of the Lebanese army as part of the country's strategy of backing the national institutions.
The meeting, which was attended by Military Attaché in Lebanon Salah Genadi, tackled promoting cooperation in the coming period.
There are political directives from the highest level to back the Lebanese army and provide them with all support as being the main pillar of stability in brotherly Lebanon, Elwy said during the meeting, reported the Egyptian state-owned news agency MENA.
These directives, the Egyptian ambassador said, come within the framework of Cairo's strategy to support all national institutions to confront the exceptional circumstance that Lebanon is witnessing.
Aoun expressed his thanks and appreciation to Egypt for its efforts to support his country's army, the latest of which was the aid ship Egypt sent last week.
