Egypt’s president inspects development projects in Alexandria

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi inspected on Friday work on the new axes and roads constructed in east and west Alexandria, the presidency stated.

During the tour, El-Sisi called for coordination between the different involved state institutions in the national mega projects.

He also stated that the aim of those projects in Alexandria was to change its reality.

The president gave directives to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly who accompanied him in his tour to hold the “best governorate, best town, and best village” nationwide.

Madbouly stated that the new axes and high ways were part of an “exceptional” infrastructure programme the government has adopted since 2015.

The development projects are part of the "Together to build the future" initiative, which is carried out under the supervision of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ Engineering Authority.

The initiative covers the development of axes in east Alexandria, including the ring road of Abu Qir new city, which extends for 16 kilometres to serve new urban expansion projects in the area, the presidency continued.

The development works cover El-Tameer Axis, implemented at a length of 50 kilometres and nine lanes in each direction, in addition to four axes being implemented at a length of 14 kilometres each to link El-Tameer with the coastal road, spread over eight lanes in each direction, the statement added.
