Egypt’s Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir and Spanish Ambassador in Cairo Ramon Gil Casares made an inspection tour on Friday of a working site to develop the railway signals system on Cairo-Alexandria railway line.
In a statement released by the Egyptian Transport Ministry, El-Wazir said the signals project is being carried out by Talis Group of Spain in Sidi Gaber and Alexandria railway stations.
The minister followed up on the progress made in the project and said that operation is scheduled in December 2021, adding that an automatic control system will be installed in the area between Kafr El Dawar and Sidi Gaber in Alexandria with a number of 69 light semaphore signals, 38 traction motors and seven crossroads extending for 28 kilometres.
The minister said the Spanish ambassador's visit comes as part of fruitful cooperation with the Spanish side in all fields especially the transport sector, voicing hope over more cooperation with Spanish companies in light of the current promising investment potentials in Egypt.

The Spanish diplomat, for his part, expressed happiness over the achievement of joint mega projects between the two sides, noting that what has been accomplished in the transport sector is a great effort crystallized in the era of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
He also asserted that Spanish companies seek to boost its cooperation with the Egyptian side especially in the transport sector, which is the biggest of its kind with regard to new investments.
