Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said Sunday that the Arab world is facing challenges posed by the current global system and the developments it is going through.

The world developments do spill over into Arab countries, especially where employment is concerned, El-Sisi said in his speech at the Arab Labour Conference on Sunday, pointing out to the emergence of new patterns of work.

El-Sisi said those challenges entail outlining suitable strategies to help achieve comprehensive Arab development on the ground, boost economic cooperation, exchange expertise and remove obstacles – all with the aim to reach Arab integration.

The president stressed the need to facilitate inter-Arab trade and investment, as well as exchange commodities, services and workers among Arab countries.

Any differences should be set aside in order to achieve common Arab development goals, the president advised.

El-Sisi also spoke highly of Arab efforts and measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and reduce its impact on the labour environment, especially where seasonal employment is concerned.

The president thanked the Arab Labour Organization (ALO) for its efforts to enhance societal dialogue, secure suitable jobs and maintain social protection.
