Egypt reports 637 new coronavirus cases, 16 deaths on Saturday

A new jump in the daily coronavirus cases was recorded officially in Egypt

Egypt reported 637 new coronavirus cases on Saturday bringing the total infection tally officially to 296,276 since the outbreak began in February 2020, said the Health Ministry in its daily coronavirus update statement.

This is the first Egypt officially records over 630 cases since 14 June 2020. 

The ministry also reported in its statement 16 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 16,951.

The statement added that 711 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 249,793 .

Earlier Saturday, the Egyptian Medical syndicate announced that the number of its members from doctors who died due to the complications of coronavirus increased recently to 596 since March 2020.

Recently, the syndicate recorded a spike in the cases of infections among the doctors as the number of cases began to increase steadily in the country.

According to health officials, Egypt is currently passing its fourth wave of coronavirus that will reach its peak in October.
