Egypt registered 22 fatalities on Monday, the highest daily rise of coronavirus deaths since early July.
The country’s total number of deaths from the virus became 16,992, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.
Egypt reported 679 new coronavirus cases on the same day, the highest single-day rise since mid-June.
Monday’s reported cases raise the total infection tally to 297,608 since the outbreak began in February 2020.
As many as 388 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, the ministry said, raising the total number of recoveries to 250,692.
