The French Embassy in Cairo announced the appointment of Marc Baréty as France's new ambassador to Egypt.
In a press statement on Wednesday the embassy said, Baréty is a PhD (French literature) holder, graduated from the National Institute of Eastern Languages and Civilizations – INALCO (Colloquial and Classical Arabic) and has long served in a number of diplomatic posts in the Middle East and Africa.
He was awarded merits of Officer of the National Order of Merit and Officer of the Legion of Honor and speaks both English and Arabic, the statement added.
