Egypt and South Korea to set up a parliamentary friendship association

Egypt’s Speaker of the House Hanafy Gebaly and his South Korean counterpart Park Byeong-Seug met on Monday to discuss the establishment of a parliamentary friendship association between the two countries.

A statement released by the Egyptian parliament’s press office said that “the current visit of the speaker of South Korea’s National Assembly to Egypt reflects the growing bilateral relations between Cairo and Seoul.”

Gebaly said that Egypt and South Korea have friendly relations and that the leaders of the two countries are keen to push these relations forward at all levels.

“We are currently in the process of setting up an Egypt-South Korea Parliamentary Friendship Association to strengthen cooperation between the two countries at the political, economic, and parliamentary levels,” said Gebaly.

The Speaker of the South Korean National Assembly, Park Byeong-Seug, said that the relations between Egypt and South Korea are historical.

“My visit to Cairo comes to represent an extension of these historic relations and boost the comprehensive partnership between Egypt and South Korea in all areas,” said Park.

Park also met with the Speaker of Egypt’s Senate, Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek.
