An official statement said speaker Gibali has congratulated Khattab for heading the newly-formed National Council for Human Rights and expressed confidence in the ability of its members to play their national roles in the coming period.

Gibali said Egypt's new national human rights strategy, released in September 2021, is an effective translation of Egypt's constitutional articles on rights and freedoms and Egypt's comprehensive vision on the issue of human rights.

For her part, ambassador Khattab said that she and NCHR are looking forward for cooperating with the House of Representatives to turn Egypt's new human rights strategy into facts on the ground.

"The state's release of the national strategy on human rights creates a high ceiling of expectations in this respect and  makes it committed to implementing it on the ground," said Khattab.
