El-Sisi's order was given during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the ministerial group tasked with preparing for the conference, including Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Investment Rania Al-Mashat, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, and South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouad.
Shoukry has been selected to head the COP27 and Fouad will serve as the conference's ministerial envoy and coordinator.
El-Sisi called on the bodies concerned to step up their efforts to ensure the event will be held in a way that reflects Egypt's regional and international position, the presidency added.
COP27 will serve Egypt’s efforts to achieve green transformation, protect the environment, and increase the use of clean energy, the presidency noted.
During the meeting, the ministerial group reviewed the main topics and expected goals of COP27, shedding light on the state's continued coordination with the UN Secretariat and the current UK presidency of COP26 on the logistical and organisational procedures to be adopted to provide services for the participants.
The meeting also tackled the means to benefit from the conference in promoting tourism and economic projects in Egypt.
Egypt has been engaged in talks with a host of international partners concerning the preparations for COP27, during which El-Sisi said Egypt will adopt a comprehensive and neutral approach.
The president has previously stressed that the COP27 summit will support efforts to reduce carbon emissions and provide funding for developing countries to deal with the repercussions of climate change.
Egypt announced the appointment of its highly-experienced economist Mahmoud Mohieldin – who has been serving as an executive director at the International Monetary Fund – as the country’s high-level champion for climate action at the COP27.
