Limited clashes broke out between street vendors in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Sunday morning after one vendor reportedly shot someone with a rubber bullet.

The resultant clashes led to a state of confusion within the square, with protesters inspecting tents in search of the vendor who had fired the shot and sealing the square's entrances and exits.

According to sources cited by Al-Ahram's Arabic-language news website, the culprit has yet to be identified. The injured party, meanwhile, reportedly received medical treatment in one of the field hospitals set up in the square.

Protesters from across the political spectrum have been holding a sit-in in the flashpoint square since last Friday to protest a 'constitutional addendum' issued by Egypt's ruling military council earlier this month granting the council additional powers at the expense of the presidency and the now-dissolved lower house of parliament.
