Three days after his capture, kidnappers release Egyptian oil worker

An Egyptian man who was abducted from a ship off Nigeria's coast has been released, announced the Egyptian deputy foreign minister, Mohamed Abdel-Hakam.

Mohamed Shaaban was taken on 21 January after kidnappers seized control of the vessel carrying supplies for Italian oil firm Agip. No details were given on how Shaaban was released or whether a ransom had been paid.
