The rules also included the tasks of the dialogue's general rapporteur, his assistant as well as all committees' rapporteurs and assistant rapporteurs.

It also set the timing arrangement for the sessions and its administrations and how to formulate the outputs, the statement added.

The board of trustees also finalised the drafting of the guidelines for certain codes of conduct for rapporteurs and assistant rapporteurs as well as participants in sessions.

The guidelines were shared online by the board via its official Facebook page.

The dialogue – called for by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi during the annual Egyptian Family Iftar banquet on 26 April – is set to kick off officially within a few weeks, General Coordinator of the National Dialogue Diaa Rashwan said on Thursday.

El-Sisi has asserted that all intellectuals, syndicates and political forces are invited to the dialogue, while assuring that only one faction is excluded from the dialogue.

The president was referring to the Muslim Brotherhood group, which Egypt designated a terrorist organisation in 2013.

Over the past two months, the 19-member board of trustees completed its selection of rapporteurs and assistant rapporteurs for the dialogue's three main tracks (political, economic, social) and their 19 subcommittees.

Whenever a subcommittee finishes discussing a particular track and makes recommendations it will present them to the dialogue’s board to be sent to the president for a final say.
