Egyptian presidency spokesperson Ali Yasser has confirmed that the funeral of former vice president and ex-chief of Egyptian Intelligence Omar Suleiman will be a military funeral and conducted according to military protocols.
Suleiman was an army general when he was appointed head of Egyptian intelligence in 1993.
Ali also added that the presidency would send an envoy representing the president to the funeral. He added that the Egyptian presidency sent a condolences telegram to Sulieman’s family.
The former vice president died in the United States while undergoing medical tests in Cleveland Hospital, Ohio. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs already announced that the body of Suleiman would be transferred within 24 hours to Cairo and that his funeral would be held Friday.
