Egypt's newly-appointed Prime Minister Hisham Qandil said on Sunday that interviewing candidates for government post did not necessarily mean they would be given the positions.
He reiterated that the choice of new ministers would be based on their relative experience, qualifications and motivations for public service, state news agency MENA reported on Sunday.
Qandil, whose statements were released amid widespread speculation over members of Egypt's incoming cabinet, has continued to interview would-be candidates.
Members of the new government are expected to be officially unveiled on Thursday.
The newly-appointed premier also called on the media to be accurate when reporting news about the new cabinet, and to avoid speculation and unsubstantiated rumour.
