Fire exchanges erupted between unknown masked men and Egyptian border guard commissioned to secure the Kharouba security checkpoint, east of the city of Sheikh Zoweid which is situated 20 kilometers away from the border between Egypt and Gaza in northern Sinai.

These clashes erupted a few hours after the execution of a suicidal attack on Egyptian troopers deployed at Egypt's border with the besieged Gaza Strip, according to Ahram Online Arabic Portal.

No casualities have been reported.
