Gas pipeline to Israel not hit - Israel radio

Reuters, Saturday 5 Feb 2011

Suspected sabotage of a gas pipeline in the Egyptian Sinai did not target supplies to Israel but they were halted as a precaution, Israel Radio said on Saturday quoting sources in the consortium overseeing imports.

Sources told BBC that The line which was attacked delivered gaz to Jordan.

"We are looking into all the details but it is too soon to say how long supplies (from Egypt) will be affected," a source in the National Infrastructure Ministry told Reuters.

The blast in Egypt's North Sinai hit a pipeline carrying gas to Jordan, a security source in the area told Reuters.

Israel gets some 40 percent of its natural gas from Egypt, a deal building on their landmark 1979 peace accord.
