The head of the suggestions committee of the Constituent Assembly, Mohamed El-Beltagi, has said that committee will hold a meeting with a group of journalists and writers Tuesday to discuss the proposed draft of constitution articles pertaining to civil freedoms.

"The purpose of the meeting is to hear from those who are most interested in this section of the constitution," said El-Beltagi, a senior figure in the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party.

El-Beltagi added that the committee has sent out invitations to many intellectuals and journalists, including acclaimed novelist Alaa Al-Aswani, prominent journalist and talk show host Yosri Fouda, musician Ammar El-Shereie, publisher Ibrahim El-Moallem, author Mohamed Salmawy, veteran writer Fahmi Howeidy, and sports critic Hassan El-Mestakawi.

El-Beltagi further said that the committee has also contacted the filmmakers' and actors' syndicates to send representatives to the meeting.

Egypt's Constituent Assembly faces the risk of dissolution pending a court order in September as its legitimacy came into question after the dissolution of the People's Assembly, which had chosen the Constituent Assembly's 100 members.
