The agreement comes within the framework of the ongoing Cairo Alexandria Trade Logistics Development Project- a comprehensive plan to develop all state transport sectors, Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir announced.
The corridor will run from the Alexandria Port to the recently completed 6th of October Dry Port, transforming Egypt into a global trade and logistics centre, El-Wazir added.
The World Bank, the IBRD's parent institution, had approved the loan in October 2022.
The project will decrease road transport and lower greenhouse gas emissions and the corridor will also be used to transport passengers, El-Wazir noted.
