Hatem Oda, head of Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), has declared that Saturday will be the last day of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, meaning that the first day of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday will fall on Sunday.
According to Islamic tradition, the Eid begins when the new moon can be spotted with the naked eye, indicating the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan, which is either 29 or 30 days long.
Ramadan this year is 30 days long, according to the NRIAG.
