Palestinians flood in after Egypt reopened the border with Israel at the Rafah city crossing on Sunday.
Sixty Palestinians arrived at the Cairo Airport on Sunday, including 45 who just arrived from Jeddah from their umrah (lesser Islamic pilgrimage).
The Palestinian passengers were received by a Palestinian embassy delegate and will be transferred to the Rafah border via shuttle busses.
A Hamas security delegation arrives Sunday in Cairo to meet with Egyptian officials on border issues, Operation Eagle (the Egyptian campaign to rid the Sinai of militants and close the illegal tunnels that run between Israel and Egypt) and the creation of a free trade zone.
Egypt closed the passage following an attack on its border with Israel in the Sinai Peninsula on 5 August that left 16 Egyptian soldiers dead. The Egyptian armed forces then issued an audio statement on state TV accusing the assailants of reaching the border through illegal tunnels from Gaza. Hamas, which has governed the Gaza strip since 2007, vehemently denies any involvement and promised to aid Egypt to secure the border.
Egyptian authorities have since decided to re-open the border with Gaza for six days a week, like it used to be before the attack.
