Egypt s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi meets with newly appointed minister Mostafa Madbouly
“Today, I assigned Dr. Mustafa Mabdouly to form a new government that includes the necessary expertise and competencies to manage the next phase to achieve the desired development in government performance and confront the challenges,” El-Sisi wrote on X on Monday.
According to a presidential statement, El-Sisi assigned the outgoing government to continue performing its duties until the new government is formed.
The president called on Madbouly to select cabinet members with competence and experience to achieve the state’s objectives, notably preserving the outlines of Egyptian national security amid the current regional and international challenges.
El-Sisi directed the incoming government to prioritize the health and education sectors, continue efforts to develop political participation, and address files related to security, stability, and the fight against terrorism.
He also ordered promoting cultural, and national awareness, and fostering moderate religious discourse initiatives to consolidate the concepts of citizenship and societal peace.
Additionally, the president demanded the new government press ahead with economic reforms, focus on attracting domestic and foreign investments, encourage private sector growth, and make efforts to reduce rising prices and inflation while improving the overall economic performance across all sectors.
This is the fourth cabinet reshuffle under Madbouly, who has been serving as premier since June 2018.
The last ministerial reshuffle was in August 2022, comprising 13 portfolios.
El-Sisi was elected for a third term in December 2023 and started the new term in April.
