The decision was published by the official gazette on Monday.
Judge Ahmed Aboud succeeded Judge Adel Fahim who was appointed in 2022.
The Council of State comprises the High Administrative Court and offers the government and parliament legal advice.
Judge Aboud earned a bachelor’s degree in Law in 1977 from Cairo University.
He also obtained a postgraduate diploma in Criminal Sciences in 1978 from Cairo University and another postgraduate diploma in Administrative Sciences in 1979 from Cairo University.
In April 1978, he started his career as an assistant delegate at the State Council and progressed through various judicial positions within the council until he was selected to be vice president by 1998.
Aboud has previously served as a legal advisor to the Governor of Cairo, the Commissioners Authority of the Supreme Constitutional Court, and the Television Sector.
He also served as a legal advisor to the Minister of Trade and Industry for 17 years, from 2000 until December 2016.
Judge Aboud also worked for the Ministry of Legal Affairs in Oman for four and a half years.
Upon his return, he joined the Supreme Administrative Court, serving for 16 years from 2000 to 2016 as a member of the First Chamber and President of the Second Review Chamber.
He later headed the Legal Fatwa Department at the Ministry of Education from 2016 to 2017.
