Abdelatty, a 58-year-old career diplomat, has served as Egypt's Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, and the European Union since 2022.
FM Shoukry, 72, has been the country’s top diplomat since 2014.
Abdelatty will also assume the post of Minister of Emigration and Expatriates Affairs after the merger of the foreign ministry and the emigration ministry in the new cabinet, according to Extra News.
Ambassador Abdelatty
Ambassador Badr Abdelatty served as Egypt's Ambassador to Germany from 2015 to 2019.
He served as Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2013 to 2015.
He served as Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for EU and Western European Affairs from 2012 to 2013.
Abdelatty served as the Director of Palestinian Affairs at the foreign ministry from 2007 to 2008.
Additionally, he held various positions in Egyptian embassies abroad, including in the USA, Japan, and Israel.
