Sisi appoints former Minister of Defence General Zaki Assistant to President for Defence Affairs

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces, appointed on Wednesday General Mohamed Zaki, former Minister of Defence and Military Production, as Assistant to the President of the Republic for Defence Affairs.

Earlier Wednesday, President El-Sisi appointed General Abdel-Meguid Saqr as the new Minister of Defence and Military Production to succeed General Zaki in the post.

Also on Wednesday, President El-Sisi appointed Lieutenant General Osama Askar, former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, as Adviser to the President of the Republic for Military Affairs.

Earlier Wednesday, President El-Sisi appointed Lieutenant General Ahmed Fathy Ibrahim Khalifa as the new Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces to succeed Lieutenant General Askar.

In addition, the President appointed Judge Omar Marwan, former Minister of Justice, as Director of the Office of the President of the Republic, succeeding Major General Mohsen Abdel-Nabi, who was appointed as Adviser to the President of the Republic for Media.

President El-Sisi also appointed Hala El-Said, former Minister of Planning and Economic Development, as Adviser to the President of the Republic for Economic Affairs.

Earlier Wednesday, 31 ministers took the oath before President El-Sisi in the new cabinet led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly which witnessed numerous changes in names and portfolios.
