According to a statement by the board, the decision came during their meeting on Saturday, where they affirmed that these sessions embody the dialogue's commitment to diversity, pluralism, and specialization.
During the sessions, they will discuss topics related to pretrial detention, including duration, alternatives, travel ban measures, handling pretrial detention in cases of multiple or recurring crimes, and compensation for wrongful pretrial detention.
The board has also decided to submit its recommendations and a list of detainees to President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi immediately after the sessions conclude for his supervision.
This decision aligns with the dialogue's strong commitment to human rights issues in Egypt, including rules on pretrial detention.
The board will prioritize these topics for national action, aligning with El-Sisi's initiative to launch the dialogue.
In addition, the board announced it plans sessions on financial and in-kind support, emphasizing that such discussions will be public and inclusive of all viewpoints.
Earlier in July, the board convened to discuss several topics, especially proposing new legislation for pretrial detention.
The National Dialogue was launched in May 2023 upon a call from President El-Sisi to address Egypt's diverse political, economic, and social issues.
In August 2023, the first round of discussions concluded with recommendations later submitted to El-Sisi.
In January 2024, the president called for a second round of National Dialogue discussions to tackle economic challenges.
