General Coordinator of Egypt's National Dialogue Diaa Rashwan
According to the board's statement, this session is expected to contribute in every possible way to strengthening Egypt's national security and higher interests.
The statement added that the decision came during a meeting held on Monday as part of the dialogue's ongoing follow-up on the latest regional developments.
This meeting discussed the ongoing escalations and intensifying conflict in the region, which poses a significant threat to regional security and stability.
Upon President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's request, the board emphasized the priority of national security and foreign policy issues in the dialogue's ongoing and future activities.
Subsidy programme
The board announced that the technical secretariat will continue to receive proposals from all entities and parties wishing to participate in the subsidy programme discussions until 10 October.
The secretariat will then prepare a detailed analysis of the received proposals to be presented to the board.
Furthermore, the board said it will hold public sessions over one week to discuss various aspects of the subsidy programme, in the presence of many political, civil, and youth representatives.
These sessions will cover important topics, including presenting official data on the subsidy system in Egypt, identifying eligible beneficiaries and their needs, and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of in-kind and cash subsidies.
They will also discuss mechanisms and guarantees for ensuring the subsidy reaches its intended recipients.
Additionally, the board noted that it will hold specialized sessions next week, attended by all relevant experts, specialists, political parties, and civil and social institutions, ensuring balanced representation from all sectors in Egypt.
These sessions will formulate the orientations and recommendations suggested in the preceding public sessions.
Then, the board will hold final sessions to draft the final recommendations, which will be presented to the board for approval and subsequently to President El-Sisi.
The National Dialogue was launched in May 2023 upon a call from El-Sisi to address Egypt's diverse political, economic, and social issues.
