During the summit, El-Sisi will deliver a speech emphasizing key aspects of Egypt's stance and dedicated efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon to prevent the region from descending into a widespread regional war, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency.
Moreover, the speech will underscore Egypt’s commitment to preserving the Palestinians' legitimate rights to establish their independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On Sunday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, which has persisted for over a year amid “unacceptable international silence,” during his participation in the summit's preparatory ministerial meeting.
Abdelatty also addressed Israel's recent attacks on UN facilities, such as UNRWA and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), describing them as violations of international law and criticizing the UN Security Council’s inability to react effectively.
Additionally, he highlighted Egypt's significant humanitarian role in Gaza during his meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohamed Mustafa on Sunday.
Egypt contributed over 70 percent of the aid delivered to Gaza and provided healthcare for thousands of wounded Palestinians, vaccinations for children, and access to education for Palestinian students, he noted.
The summit comes one year after a similar one in Riyadh of the Cairo-based Arab League and the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)," where leaders urged the international community to hold Israel accountable and protect Palestinians' rights. It underscored a sustained regional commitment to addressing the Palestinian cause.
