Several injured by gas cylinder explosion at Alexandria eatery

An unknown number of people taken to hospital suffering from burns after gas cylinder explosion at Abu-Rabie restaurant in Egypt's Alexandria

Gas cylinders caused a major explosion at the popular Abu-Rabie restaurant in East Alexandria's Miami district on Monday afternoon.

A number of people have been taken to hospital with serious burns but the official number of injured is still unknown, according to Ahmed Sabry of the Al-Ahram Arabic news website.

Sabry estimated that at least 10 people had been injured but said there are no reported deaths so far.

No official statement has been made about the incident.   

Four cylinders reportedly exploded.
