Sheikh Ali Freek, head of the Arabic Party for Justice and Equality, said on Thursday at Ghad El Thawra's press conference premises that the Minister of Interior had agreed to provide Sinai tribes with weapons to protect their land.
Tribal chiefs expressed their appreciation for police security bodies who provide security in Sinai, and also confirmed their commitment to supporting police forces in achieving stability in the region.
Throughout the press conference, the tribal chiefs presented the demands of the Sinai community and ways of development to support the people of Sinai.
Freek added that the agriculture minister had confirmed his approval of a project to drill shallow wells, in order to develop land in the peninsula and create job opportunities.
Sheikh Abu Aayad, one of the tribal chiefs, said that the real danger in the next phase will be from undeveloped land of Sina, and argued that the peninsula needs from three to four million citizens to protect it.
Ayman Nour, official spokesman of the Egyptian Summit Party, said that a joint committee was formulated between Sinai tribal chiefs and members of various political parties, who can help implement the agreements and the promises.
Nour added that the joint committee is not new, as it was formulated after the 1919 revolution and is being reactivated now.
