Egypt's faith behind 1973 'brilliant victory': Brotherhood supreme guide

Islamist group leader Mohamed Badie attributes Egypt's 1973 'victory' over Israel that 'abolished Zionist myth it is invincible' to Egyptians coming back to God, on 6 October War anniversary, Saturday

On the 39th anniversary of the 1973 war with Israel, Muslim Brotherhood's Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie attributed the "great October victory" to "Egyptians, Muslims and Christians, coming back to God" via the Islamist group's official Twitter account, Saturday.  

The "brilliant victory" Badie added, "abolished the Zionist myth that its army was invincible."

6 October is an annual national holiday marking the start of the 1973 war, which Egyptians consider to be an historic victory over Israel, as it lead to the liberation of the Sinai Pensinula which the self-proclaimed Jewish state had held for six years.  

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, who hails from the Islamist group, is expected to give a speech 6pm Saturday during the annual celebrations at captial's Cairo Stadium.
