The chief of military police has asked the protesters to remove their tents from Tahrir Square and to not obstruct traffic.
Mohamed Ibrahim Ali, the military police chief told the protesters that there is no longer a need for them to camp in the middle of the square.
Many protesters have already evacuated the square after Egypt’s former President Hosni Mubarak stepped down on Friday evening. The military officers have also removed most of the tents in the square and traffic flow has returned to normal.
The remaining protesters are in the small grassy trafic islands around the square.
