Number of dead, injured rises in Sinai CSF truck accident

The official Egyptian news agency says number of soldiers killed stands at 21 and injured at 27 after police driver lost control of steering wheel on rugged terrain in northern Sinai Monday morning

According to Ahmed El-Ansary deputy head of Egypt's ambulance services, 11 of the injured soldiers have been transferred to Arish hospital and another six to Maadi Military hospital in Cairo to receive their treatment.

A Central Security Forces truck overturned early Monday in the eastern Sinai Peninsula, killing 21 soldiers and wounding 27, the MENA news service reports.

An interior ministry official said the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the steering wheel whilst driving over rugged terrain.

Ambulances were immediately sent to the scene and the casualties were transferred to a nearby hospital, he added.
