The runoffs concern constituencies in the governorates of Gharbia, Ismailia, Beni Suef, Luxor, and the New Valley. Voting for Egyptians abroad will be held over two days across 126 polling stations in 117 countries, under the supervision of Egyptian ambassadors and diplomats.

According to the NEA, overseas polling will open at 9 am local time in each country. The first mission to begin voting will be Egypt’s embassy in New Zealand, where voting will start at 9 am (6 pm Cairo Local Time) on Sunday.

The authority added that it will hold press conferences on Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7 pm Cairo Local Time to update the public on the progress of overseas runoff voting.

Two weeks ago, the NEA announced in a press conference a 17.1 percent voter turnout in the 2025 Senate elections, with 195 of the 200 elected seats decided in the first round.

Approximately 11.8 million voters cast ballots out of 69.3 million eligible citizens of the total votes cast. Of these votes, 11.3 million were valid, representing 95.6 percent, while 516,818, representing 4.3 percent, were invalid, the NEA added.

The National Unified List – the only closed party list in the race – secured victory in the elections in all four constituencies: Cairo and South and Central Delta; North, Central, and South Upper Egypt; East Delta; and West Delta.

As for individual seats, the NEA noted that 95 of the 100 seats were decided in the first round.

Runoffs will be held for the remaining five seats, with two seats each in the governorates of Gharbia, Beni Suef, and New Valley, and one seat each in Luxor and Ismailia governorates. Ten candidates are competing for the designated seats.

Domestic runoff voting will be held on 27-28 August, and final runoff results will be announced on 4 September.
