On Wednesday, the National Elections Authority (NEA) said it had received 24 complaints on the first day of runoff voting in the second phase of the parliamentary elections.
Voting by Egyptians abroad in the second-phase runoff concluded on Tuesday, following ballots cast at 139 polling stations in 117 countries on 15–16 December.
Final results are scheduled to be announced on 25 December.
On 10 December, the Supreme Administrative Court rejected 211 appeals challenging the results of the first round of the second phase and referred 37 other appeals to the Court of Cassation, citing a lack of jurisdiction.
On 2 December, the NEA announced the partial cancellation of voting procedures and the exclusion of ballot papers from two subcommittees in Qalyubia and Dakahlia after violations were detected. The decision did not affect the overall results in those constituencies.
First-round voting in the second phase took place abroad on 21–22 November and inside Egypt on 24–25 November, when around 34 million eligible voters were able to cast their ballots.
The second phase covers 13 governorates: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai.
The current House of Representatives was elected in late 2020 for a five-year term ending in January 2026. Under the constitution, elections for a new parliament must be held within 60 days before the end of the current term.
