Parliament’s Upper House will not return, Morsi seeks stability
President Mohamed Morsi has proposed holding a new round of dialogue with all Egyptian political forces to discuss all issues pertaining to the country's current transitional period and the security thereof, presidential spokesman Yasser Ali told state news agency MENA on Sunday.
"If the Egyptian public approves the draft constitution, all constitutional declarations issued since 19 March until now will be rendered invalid," said Ali.
Speaking to Egyptian state television on Sunday evening, Ali stressed that only 13 days remained before Egyptians would vote on the draft national charter.
He went on to point out that the president had met with Egypt's Supreme Judicial Council and the heads of all Egyptian judicial authorities more than three times over the last five months.
Ali also stressed the presidency's respect for Egypt's judiciary and the latter's independence from executive authority.
On Saturday, President Morsi called for a nationwide referendum on Egypt's draft constitution to be conducted on 15 December.
