Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has vowed to block any attempts to disrupt the voting process or influence voters in Saturday’s constitutional referendum.

General Osama Ismael, official spokesperson for the ministry, said they had taken all necessary measures to secure polling stations. He added that the police's job would be limited to protecting the outside of polling stations.

Officers had been ordered to take all legal measures to stop efforts to sabotage the voting process, he confirmed.

The Egyptian armed forces will also help in securing the polling stations.
