April 6 Youth Movement has backed calls by Ultras Ahlawy for justice and retribution for the martyrs of the Port Said disaster.
"We will not accept a weak decision by the court – this would be a disaster – and we will not accept innocent people being framed while the real murderers remain free,” April 6 said in a statement on Monday.
Ultras Ahlawy, hardcore supporters of Ahly, have called for mass protests on 26 January 2013 to coincide with the verdict in the trial of people accused of perpetrating the disaster.
The group also announced it would march from the Ahly club in Zamalek to Tahrir Square on Friday 18 January to commemorate the disaster's martyrs.
“The Ultras were our partners in Tahrir Square. They presented the greatest symbol of coverage and loyalty after their friends were killed in Port Said stadium in a plot by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and the police to punish them for standing against military rule at a time when other political powers were afraid to even hint at their crimes,” the statement added.
Nearly 74 football fans, mostly from Ultras Ahlawy, were killed in the disaster when fans of Masry attacked Ahly fans on 1 February 2012.
