At least 19 prisoners are missing and 18 weapons have been stolen from prisons during clashes in Suez, major-general Adel Refaat, security director of Suez, said on Sunday.
Four police stations - El-Ganayen, El-Arabein, Faisal and Suez, were attacked in the city on Saturday’s clashes.
Refaat said that police forces will start on Monday to search for the fugitives who escaped police stations on Saturday in Suez.
In the wake of the violence, Egypt's Armed Forces ordered to empty the Suez Security Directorate from all weapons and security personel.
Military forces descended onto the streets of Suez to maintain security especially at the governorate’s building and security directorate.
The security director of Suez also said that the Suez directorate was keeping a policeman in custody for firing gunshots during the clashes after seeing two of his colleagues hit with bird pellets.
He said that any policeman or protestor who used gun-shots will be interrogated and the necessary legal action would be carried out.
Nine people were killed in Suez clashes, one which included a police officer. An official forensics report said that the protestors were shot by live ammunition at close range.
