Ahram Online, Thursday 24 Feb 2011

Cairo's prosecutor-general issued an order on Thursday to place former Minister of Information Anass El-Feky and former head of Egyptian State TV Osama El Sheikh in custody under investigation for 15 days.

The decision followed the prosecutor-general’s decision to ban El-Feki and Sheikh from leaving the country, as well as former prime minister and close Mubarak ally Atef Ebeid and former minister of culture Farouk Hosni.

As well as heading his government, Ebeid was also Mubarak's personal financial advisor and one of the architects of the country's privatization project.

The latest businessmen to be banned from leaving the country include: Amr Assal, head of the Industrial Development Authority, Medhat el-Meligy, head of Productive Farmers' Union, Yassin Mansour, Hamed el-Sheemy, Helmy Abu Eish, Adham Nadine, Nehad Ragab, Nabil Abdel Azim and Mohamed Abu el-Enin.
