The general prosecutor, Abdel Meguid Mahmoud, has announced that former president Hosni Mubarak and his familly have been banned from leaving Egypt. Their assets have also been frozen.

A military source confirmed to Ahram Online that the former president's son, Gamal Mubarak, tried to leave the country on a private jet yesterday. He was thwarted from doing so by the military.

The same source added that criminal charges are being brought by the court against Mubarak's family.
