General prosecutor asks banks to provide details of Mubarak family accounts

MENA, Wednesday 2 Mar 2011

The General prosecutor has requested all banks working in Egypt to do whatever is necessary to provide all information related to the accounts of the ousted president Hosni Mubarak, his wife Suzan Thabet, their sons, Alaa Mubarak and Gamal Mubarak, their daughters-in-law, Heidi Rassekh and Khadiga el-Gammal, as well as their grand children, Omar Mubarak and Farida Mubarak.

The request came after a decision was taken by prosecutor-general Abdel Maguid Mahmoud on Monday to freeze all the accounts of the Mubarak family and ban them from travel.

Last Monday Al-Ahram published a story on the secret bank accounts of Mubarak's family. The report claimed that Thabet was worth over USD147 million and that the Mubarak sons each had over USD100 million at the National Egyptain Bank.
