Mubarak supporters rally for release at retrial

Ahram Online, Saturday 13 Apr 2013

Tens of Mubarak loyalists have gathered in front of the Police Academy where the retrial of the ousted president is taking place carrying pictures of the 85-year-old and banners in his support.

"Mubarak is the leader...he is not a traitor...Mubarak is the ruler of the world," one banner read.

"When Mubarak stepped down security vanished with him"

"God is going to help us get him out. It's not the people who have a problem with Mubarak, it's the Brotherhood who are causing the problem and are themselves problem and are controlling the people," Zizi Amal, 26, tells Ahram Online.

"I work in human rights, I can tell you the situation in human rights is worse right now; there are no services, no money, no security, just violence. Mubarak helped people and kept the peace for the last 30 years. He will be released, which is fair and right; all we worry about is they will keep adding 15 days to his detention over false corruption charges. Brotherhood want revenge," she added.

Tens of family members of those slain in clashes with police during the 18 days that ousted Mubarak are also present standing at the court's gates with pictures of their martyrs.
