French and Egyptian presidents will also work together on upcoming Syrian peace conference

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi discussed with his French counterpart Francois Hollande on Tuesday possible means of enhancing investments, tourism and trade between the two countries.

The telephone conversation also tackled possible efforts to ensure the success of the Geneva 2 peace conference’s attempt to solve the Syrian crisis, according to a statement published on the official Facebook page of the Egyptian presidential spokesman.

The Geneva 2 conference is scheduled to take place 15-16 June in Geneva.

“The president also pointed out that the Geneva 2 conference is compatible with the Egyptian initiative that aims to involve all regional and global elements to achieve a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria,” read the statement, adding that Hollande had officially invited Morsi to the Africa/France summit scheduled at the end of 2013.

In January, Morsi cancelled a scheduled trip to France after violent clashes broke out in Egypt following the second anniversary of the January 25 revolution, leaving more than 50 civilians dead.
