Egypt court orders retrial of ex-PM Nazif

Mubarak-era prime minister Ahmed Nazif to face retrial on charges that he used his political authority to acquire personal wealth, overturning September 2012 conviction

Ahram Online, Thursday 13 Jun 2013

An appeal court in Cairo has ordered the retrial of Mubarak-era prime minister Ahmed Nazif on corruption charges, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Nazif received a three-year prison sentence and was ordered to pay a fine of LE4.57 million in September 2012 for using his political authority to boost his own wealth.

The former PM was arrested shortly after the revolution that toppled Hosni Mubarak in February 2011.
