Two army soldiers and a policeman were killed in Al-Arish city, North Sinai, in three separate militant attacks by unknown assailants on Sunday.
An army soldier was killed in an attack at the city's Radio and Television office, another at the administrative building and a policeman at one of the city's police stations.
North Sinai has been witnessing increasing attacks on police and army personnel since the overthrow of Muslim Brotherhood-backed President Mohamed Morsi.
According to Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim, at least 11 security personnel have been killed in the peninisula since Morsi’s ouster on 3 July.
On Thursday, the Egyptian army said that it has killed ten militants in North Sinai. The army also increased its security presence in the region.
Morsi was ousted by the army on 3 July after nationwide protests against his rule. The army, along with a number of political groups, agreed on a transitional roadmap for a return to democracy. High Constitutional Court head Adly Mansour was sworn in as interim president on 4 July.
North Sinai has witnessed a security vacuum since the 2011 uprising that toppled autocratic president Hosni Mubarak.
