National Coalition to Support Legitimacy denounces bomb attack on Mansoura security directorate, warns of conspiracies to discredit supporters of former president Mohamed Morsi

The Muslim Brotherhood-led National Coalition to Support Legitimacy has condemned Tuesday's bomb attack on the Mansoura security directorate that killed a soldier and injured dozens.

"The coalition reasserts its commitment to peace and condemns all sorts of violence. We demand an official investigation into this criminal act," the coalition said in a statement on Wednesday.

The media must not spread lies or falsely accuse peaceful protesters of committing violent acts, the coalition added.

The pro-Morsi coalition, led by the Muslim Brotherhood and supported by its Islamist allies, said it had warned of plans by the intelligence and security apparatuses to conduct attacks and blame them on pro-Morsi groups.

"We are confident the Egyptian people will not be fooled by these conspiracies," the coalition said.

Essam El-Arian, a senior member of the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, condemned the Mansoura attack via a comment on Facebook:

"On behalf of the Freedom and Justice Party I condemned the attack on the Daqahaliya security directorate [in Mansoura]. I condemn all violence regardless of who commits it.

"Our revolution is peaceful and all its events are peaceful. We won't be dragged into violence. Our strength is in our peacefulness."

We have a just cause against the coup, El-Arian added. We demand the return of the legitimate constitution, parliament and president.
