Egypt's interior ministry announced on Monday that 25 of its police forces have been killed and 480 injured since 28 June in violent clashes that engulfed the country over the past several weeks.

Five officers, 13 police personnel and seven conscripts were killed. Among the injured were 136 officers, 196 police personnel and 159 conscripts, the ministry said in a statement released Monday via Facebook.

The statement also said that the number of slain police since Egypt's 25 January 2011 uprising has reached 47 deaths and 9,476 injuries.

After one year in office, Morsi was ousted on 3 July after mass nationwide protests against the former elected president.

At least 80 civilians - mostly Morsi supporters - were killed in clashes with the security forces on Saturday in Nasr City, Cairo.
