Burns to meet Egypt's National Coalition to Support Legitimacy

A delegation from Egypt's pro-Morsi Islamist umbrella group will meet US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns amid efforts to address national political crisis

Muslim Brotherhood spokesperson Gehad El-Haddad has said that a delegation of the the National Coalition to Support Legitimacy, an Islamist umbrella in support of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, will meet US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns later Saturday.

"The meeting with Burns aims to insist on restoring the constitutional legacy and rejecting the coup, as well to insist on keeping the public mobilisation to achieve this," said El-Haddad on his Twitter account, adding that the US official invited a delegation to meet him at a Cairo hotel.

El-Haddad revealed on Twitter that the delegation that would meet Burns included Mohamed Beshr from the Muslim Brotherhood, Amr Darag from the Brotherhood's political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party, Nevine Malek from the National Conscience Front and El-Wasat Party and Tarek El-Malt from El-Wasat Party.

Burns is currently visiting Cairo for the second time in less than three weeks. He is holding a series of meetings with Egyptian officials as well political figures, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Fahmy and Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei.
