Prime Minister Hazem El-Beblawi met on Wednesday with army chief Abdel Fatah El-Sisi and interior minister Mohamed Ibrahim to discuss the latest developments in the Sinai as well the pro-Morsi sit-ins in Cairo and Giza.
The trio met in the hours after a presidency press statement announced that the pro-Morsi sit-ins were "not peaceful" and that foreign-mediated talks with the Muslim Brotherhood had failed.
On 31 July, the Egyptian cabinet delegated the interior ministry to take "all legal measures" necessary to disperse the pro-Morsi sit-ins at Cairo's Rabaa Al-Adawiya Mosque and Giza's Nahda Square.
On Wednesday, the army released a statement announcing that it has killed 60 alleged jihadists in the Sinai Peninsula, which has witnessed a surge of militant attacks against security personnel following the popularly backed-army removal of former president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July.
